A Place to Dance
In mid-August, we visited The Dance Place to capture Yvette, Cecelia, Katherine and Jessica-Marie polishing their dance moves at the school's intensive day camp. The camp, which ran from the 13th to the 24th and is designed for dancers between six and 14 years of age who would like to try out for competition, saw the girls practising the steps of ballet, tap, jazz, acro, lyrical, hip hop and musical theatre. Students who demonstrate their love and passion for dance are eligible to be accepted into Toronto’s Dance Machine (TDM), The Dance Place's competitive company. TDM enters as many as four competitions annually and provides wonderful performance opportunities for the dancers.
Opened in 2001 and located at 48 Fieldway Rd., The Dance Place is a not-for-profit school of dance with a strong mandate to provide opportunities to artists, teachers and choreographers, making the art of dance accessible to everyone who wishes to experience the joy and health benefits of this active lifestyle.
