Patriots Break Ice in New Arena
Hockey players of all ages and stages know the feeling of heading to the rink for the first game of the season. This year was extra special for players of the Upper Canada Patriots, a Junior "A" team that now calls the brand new Lakeshore Lions Arena home. The team faced off against the Streetsville Derbys on Friday, September 11th in the first-ever game of hockey to be played on its home ice. On hand to share in the occasion was WWII veteran Ernie Scale, who had the honour of dropping the first puck. The Patriots ended up losing the game, but it certainly didn't take away from the experience of carving the ice in this outstanding new facility.
